1) Answer: 1 1/2 (one and a half)

Did you combine like terms first? ALWAYS combine like terms before solving a problem. This is how it's supposed to look:

2x + x + (5/4) = (3/2)x + 1 - 2

3x + (5/4) = (3/2)x + -1

4(3x) + 4(5/4) = 4((3/2)x) + 4(-1)

12x + 5 = 6x + -4

Solve

2a) Answer: 1/9

3^2 * 3^4 3^ (3+4) 3^6
